When the software has to fit your business, not the other way round
Businesses approach us when existing software does not fit their workflow — when the package covers eighty percent of the job and the remaining twenty percent is handled with spreadsheets, printouts and phone calls. Custom development closes that gap.
When custom software is the right decision
Custom development is not automatically the better option. It costs more upfront than a subscription product and it takes longer to start using. It is the right choice in specific situations:
- Your process is genuinely different from how packaged products assume work is done
- You are paying for several tools and still reconciling between them by hand
- The available products need so much adjustment that your team works around them
- Licence costs rise steeply as you add users, locations or volume
- You need the system to connect to something specific — a machine, a portal, an existing database
- The software itself is part of what you sell
When it is not
We will say so if a standard product would serve you better. If your requirement is ordinary billing, common accounting or a simple website, a well-established tool will usually be cheaper and available immediately.
In those cases we would rather help you choose and set up the right existing tool — or build only the small piece that is genuinely missing — than sell you a project you do not need.
A useful middle path: keep the standard tools you already use, and build a custom layer that connects them and handles the part that is unique to your business. This is often the fastest route to a real improvement.
What we build on custom engagements
A representative list of the systems we develop. Most projects combine several of these.
Internal business portals
A single place for staff to work, with roles and permissions.
Customer portals
Self-service access to orders, documents, status and payments.
Inventory systems
Stock levels, movement, batches and reorder alerts.
Billing & invoicing systems
Invoice generation, payment tracking and outstanding reports.
CRM systems
Leads, follow-ups, communication history and conversion tracking.
ERP systems
Connected operations, inventory, billing and management reporting.
Booking systems
Appointments, slots, resources and automated confirmations.
Subscription systems
Recurring plans, renewals, expiry handling and member access.
Employee systems
Attendance, tasks, leave records and internal requests.
Reporting dashboards
Live operational and management views built from your data.
Mobile applications
Android apps for customers, field staff and site operations.
API integrations
Connections to payments, messaging and third-party platforms.
Automation systems
Scheduled jobs, alerts and rules that run without a person.
Industry-specific applications
Systems built for the way one particular trade actually works.
How a custom project runs
Nothing is left to be "sorted out later". Scope, milestones, timelines, payment stages and exclusions are written down and agreed before development starts.
You review working software at each milestone rather than waiting until the end, which means changes are caught while they are still cheap to make.
Payment terms, delivery arrangements and cancellation rules are covered in our Terms & Conditions, Service Delivery Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy.
-
Requirement discussion
A working session on your current process, the problems to solve and the outcome you expect. No cost, no obligation.
-
Written proposal
Scope, module list, deliverables, milestones, timeline, commercial terms and clearly stated exclusions.
-
Design and confirmation
Screen layouts, data structure and user roles reviewed with you and signed off before coding begins.
-
Development in milestones
Each milestone produces something you can open and use, with your feedback incorporated before the next one starts.
-
Testing and data setup
Functional testing, correction of defects, and import of your existing data where the files allow it.
-
Deployment and training
Go-live on your hosting or ours, accounts created, and training for the people who will use the system daily.
-
Support and enhancement
An agreed support period after launch, followed by an optional ongoing arrangement for changes and improvements.
What you receive at the end
Beyond working software, a custom engagement leaves you with the things you need to run and extend it.
Deployed application
Live on agreed hosting, configured with your users, roles and initial data.
Documentation
Handover notes covering setup, configuration and how the system is structured.
Training
Sessions for the staff who will use it, plus a reference they can consult later.
Agreed rights
Ownership and licensing of the delivered work set out in writing — see our IP Policy.
Discuss Your Requirement
Describe the process you want to improve — even roughly. We will come back with what we would build, roughly how long it would take, and whether a custom system is genuinely the right answer for you.
